Lynne Duval, LICSW/Owner

Hi, I’m Lynne Duval, MSW, LICSW and I founded Granite State Child & Family Counseling, PLLC in December 2004. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of NH. I graduated from Boston University with a Master's degree in Social Work.

I have worked in the field of mental health for 31 years. My experience includes working with many populations with varying presenting problems and concerns. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NH) New Hampshire chapter and follow the NASW Code of Ethics for sound clinical practice.

I am trained in many methods of social work including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy, stages of change, transdisciplinary assessment, and more.

Areas of specialty with children of all ages include ADHD/ADD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anger Management, Divorce/Separation, Depression, behavioral disorders, parenting difficulties, trauma, and various Anxiety or Phobic disorders.

My experience working with adults has included substance abuse/dependence, dual diagnosis, anxiety, depression, divorce/separation, loss/grief, incarceration, chronic mental illness, relationship difficulties, parenting/discipline, trauma, stress, and adjustment difficulties.

I have worked in a variety of settings including homes for displaced children, community mental health centers, prison for women, area agency, preschool programs (Head Start and Early Head Start), hospitals, and outpatient therapy settings.

My approach to working with families centers around helping clients determine their goals (what they would like to accomplish or change in their lives) and identifying those areas that an individual or family may not be aware of. I then help my clients to accomplish their goals through outpatient therapy, groups, and utilization of other resources as needed. I work hard with my clients to help them communicate their needs effectively and achieve their goals both in therapy and in their community. I provide educational seminars to the community on various topics of interest. I have worked in the local school system providing groups to Middle School aged children and individual therapy to those children and families through a preventative grant. I look forward to serving you and your family.

Meet Mr. Pickles

Mr. Pickles is a 6 year-old Pug who often is with me during my therapy sessions, whether via Telehealth or in the office. He is very friendly and LOVES EVERYONE. He will be excited at first but will soon calm down and nestle into your lap for the duration of your session (if in-person). It is important for him that you don’t pet him when he’s excited. When you enter the therapy room the best thing to do, if he’s excited, is to ignore him until he is calm. You can stand and talk with me or have a seat. Once he is calm you may pet him and give him attention.

He loves humans and needs to be in contact with you whether by your side or on your lap. If you are not comfortable with dogs or do not want him to sit with you please let me know. It is no problem to have him stay at a distance or even in his crate. He doesn’t mind at all.

I hope he is able to bring you as much joy and affection as he does to us!

Meet Christopher Chin Chin

Christopher is a 1 year old Pug who was brought into our team in February 2023. He is still learning the ropes and how to be a support dog. At times he can be disruptive with his play and bothering Mr. Pickles. I may have to pause and put him in his crate so we can concentrate. He loves to play, licks everything, and will bark at every sound. He is super cute and that is his saving grace.

Thank you for welcoming him and being patient as he learns.
