About Psychotherapy

Choosing a therapist you trust
There are many reasons why you might seek help from a professional therapist/counselor. Once that decision is made it still can be difficult to know how to find the right person for yourself, your child, your marriage, or your family. It is important that the therapist you choose is the right fit for you and that you are comfortable. There may be many criteria that would constitute the right fit - it could be personality, philosophy, therapeutic perspective, therapy methods, etc. I welcome the opportunity to provide you with the right fit and to help you, your child, your marriage, or family accomplish those goals that you identify together with your therapist.

Approach to Therapy:
Therapy is a commitment made by both yourself and your therapist. There are many approaches used to help you identify the problem areas in your life and to make any identified changes. You may be asked to complete assignments outside the session to enrich your experience and to increase progress toward your goals. It is important that you feel safe and secure during therapy and with your therapist. I work very hard to provide this atmosphere and encourage your participation in this process.

Qualified Therapists:
As a therapist I have completed a master's level program that has prepared me to provide high quality services. Every year I continue to expand my education through conferences, seminars, supervision, and self-study. It is important to me to provide this care to you within my area of expertise and to be aware of changing trends within my field. I am licensed within the State of New Hampshire and follow the states guidelines for sound clinical practice. I also belong to a professional association (NASW) and follow a specific Code of Ethics.

I recognize how difficult it can be to decide to confide in a therapist and entrust me with your care. I appreciate you allowing me to take this journey of self-discovery with you and look forward to your success.
